WIU Panel Discussion Marks Berlin Wall Anniversary

MACOMB, IL — Sunday, Nov. 9 marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In honor of this, an interdisciplinary panel of Western Illinois University faculty will discuss various aspects of the history and post-history of the Berlin Wall and share personal recollections. The panel presentation and discussion will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 in the Leslie F. Malpass Library Garden Lounge.

The panelists include:
• Chair Gary Schmidt (Foreign Languages and Literature)
• Assistant Professor Norma Suvak (Foreign Languages and Literature/Women's Studies)
• Professor Keith Holz (Art)
• Assistant Professor Gregory Baldi (Political Science)
• Professor Heather McIlvaine-Newsad (Sociology and Anthropology)
• Associate Professor Ute Chamberlin (History)

The event is co-sponsored by the WIU departments of History, Foreign Languages and Literature and by University Libraries.
