MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University students searching for employment and/or internship opportunities will want to attend the WIU Career Development Center's annual Spring Career and Internship Fair next week. Set from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the University Union Grand Ballroom, the fair is open free to students, alumni and the public. The WIU School of Graduate Studies will also host the Graduate Program Expo simultaneously (more information about the expo below).

According to Michelle Howe, assistant director of WIU's Career Development Center (CDC), more than 70 companies will be recruiting for both full-time employment and for internships. Students from all majors are welcome to attend the fair. She added that a list of participating companies is available at www.student.services.wiu.edu/careers/fair/companies.asp?fairID=29.

"All attendees are required to dress professionally and should bring copies of their résumés, as well as research the companies they are interested in networking with," Howe noted. "Attendees are encouraged to meet with CDC staff members to have their résumés reviewed before the fair."

To help students prepare for the fair, the CDC is hosting a Career Fair Preparation Workshop at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 in the Union Fox Room. According to Howe, Bob Berdelle, an Enterprise recruiter, will present tips for career fair success.

"CDC staff members will also be available from 9 a.m-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 to assist students with résumés and provide tips for interactions with recruiters," she said.

In addition, the CDC is providing free professional LinkedIn headshots during the career fair, courtesy of the WIU Visual Production Center.
