WIU Department of Art Welcoming Visiting Artist

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Art and the ceramics program will host visiting artist Ian F. Thomas Wednesday-Friday, Feb. 4-6.

Thomas is a ceramics artist and is an instructor at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA. His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries, and he has been an artist in residence in the U.S. and China.

An exhibit of Thomas' work will be on display in the WIU Art Gallery from Wednesday, Feb. 4-Monday, March 23. More information about the gallery is available at wiu.edu/artgallery.

Other events surrounding Thomas' visit include:

• Artist workshop/demonstration, Heating Plant Annex, room 111: Wednesday, Feb. 4, 9 a.m.-1p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.

• Artist lecture, Garwood Hall, room 10: Wednesday, Feb. 4, 5 p.m.

• Gallery reception, WIU Art Gallery: Friday, Feb. 6, 4:30 p.m.

• Gallery talk, WIU Art Gallery: Friday, Feb. 6, 5 p.m.

The artist lecture and gallery reception and talk are open to WIU students, staff and faculty and to the Macomb community.
