MACOMB, IL - Linda Andrews, organ instructor for the Western Illinois University School of Music and organist at the First Presbyterian Church, of Macomb, will present a recital to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the church's original Möller pipe organ at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in the church. She will be joined by guest artist WIU Professor of Piano Tammie Walker.

The church, located at 400 E. Carroll St., has a history of sponsoring recitals and concerts that feature the church's significant pipe organ. Andrews' program will focus on compositions that are organ fantasies. It will include two fantasies by Johann Sebastian Bach, "Fantasia and Fugue in C minor," BWV 537, and "Fantasia in G," BWV 572.

The French School of Organ Music will be represented by 19th century Cesar Franck's monumental "Fantasie in A" and 20th century composer Louis Vierne's rousing setting of "Carillon de Westminster" (from "Pièces de Fantaisie"). A highlight of the program will include a brilliant and melodious work for organ and piano duet "Fantaisie," by American composer Clifford Demarest.

Andrews earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Western, studying organ with Professor Anita Werling. She continued her organ studies with Wolfgang Rübsam at Northwestern University, where she was awarded the master of music degree in church music. Andrews has previously taught at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL. Additionally, she has served as organist or director of music for churches in Chicago, Galesburg and Macomb.

An active member of the American Guild of Organists, Andrews currently serves as secretary of the Western Illinois University chapter. Andrews has been a featured organ soloist with the McDonough County Choral Society.

The recital is open free to the public.
