WIU Broadcasting Student Finalist for National Award

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University senior Andrew Bacon, of Chatham, IL, has been named a finalist in the College Sports Media Award competition in the Outstanding Promotion, PSA, Tease, or Marketing Campaign, Collegiate Student category.

The contest submission by Bacon, a broadcasting major, ran on the video board at Hanson Field prior to WIU home football games. He has won honorable mention in the contest in three prior competitions: twice for "Program Series" in 2013 and 2014 and once for "Outstanding Program Open, Tease, Promotional Video, PSA and Campaigns" in 2014. This is Bacon's first time as a national finalist.

Bacon has been involved in sports broadcasting since his freshman year of high school. He graduated from Western, with honors, Saturday. He now begins an internship with the Atlantic Coast Conference in North Carolina this summer.

Bacon's competition for this award includes submissions from South Carolina, Virginia Tech, St. Cloud State and Harvard. The videos for each can be seen at vimeo.com/channels/915796/124669695. Winners will be announced May 28 in Atlanta, GA.
