MACOMB, IL – An exhibit and art talk by artist Eli Blasko will open at the Western Illinois University Annex Gallery Monday, Aug. 31.

The exhibit, "To Dirt/From Dirt – And The Myth In Between," will run through Sept. 18. Blasko will speak at the exhibit's opening reception at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the gallery.

Blasko's recent work has served as a map of inquiries generated by living within the restrictions of linear time and three-dimensional space. He is currently serving as a visual artist in residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, NE.

Blasko's art covers a wide range of mediums, most sculpture, but also incorporating drawing, printmaking, performance and video.

"I see my pieces as the diagrammed remnants of this process, taking psychological phenomena such as cognition, learning, uncertainty and intuition and exploring how they become vehicles of interaction with the concrete world," he said.

The exhibit and lecture are open free to the public.
