MACOMB, IL – High school senior Nicholas Gorsich, of New Berlin, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Gorsich said he chose Western because of the University's staff and because he is excited to call the campus "home" for the next four years.

"Any student looking to choose a college that is focused on making himself or herself as successful as possible should absolutely consider WIU," said Gorsich. "From the very beginning, the staff I have come into contact with have been helpful, kind and motivational."

Gorsich has an interest in studying agriculture and law at Western.

In high school, Gorsich participated in FFA, WFNB Cross Country Team, the Scholastic Bowl team, National Honor Society and WYSE.
