MACOMB, IL – A luncheon to celebrate International Women's Day will be held in the Western Illinois University Multicultural Center from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 8.

Resource tables will be available from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m., a lunch buffet from 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and a program from 12:15-1 p.m. in the Center's multipurpose and activity rooms.

The luncheon is $10 for non-students and free for WIU students. Seating is limited, and advance registration is required.

International Women's Day is commemorated annually on March 8. This year's theme, "Pledge for Parity," celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women globally, while acknowledging that urgent action is needed to accelerate gender parity where progress has slowed in many places across the world.

The luncheon program will include a panel discussion and table displays by female international students, faculty and staff. The event is sponsored by the WIU Women's Center, the Center for International Studies and the International Friendship Club.

To register for the luncheon, visit the WIU Women's Center, Multicultural Center suite 209, by Wednesday, March 2. For more information, contact the Women's Center at (309) 298-2242.
