Behind the bricks and mortar, there are the people of Western Illinois University and the Macomb community.

Who I Am: Laura Leezer. I am from Macomb and I'm the mother of two teenagers.

What I Do: I'm a senior vice president at Citizens Bank, and I also teach part-time in the WIU Marketing Department.

Why I Love WIU: I love WIU because it has always been an important part of my life and many of my fondest memories include the people and places that make our campus so special. WIU means the past, present, and future to me. The Past: My parents met at WIU as undergraduates, taught here, and are both retired professors. As a young adult, I attended and graduated from WIU. The Present: As a resident of Macomb, I value the quality of life WIU brings to our community. The Future: WIU is a crucial part of our community's future success …. it's our way of life.

Courtney Powelson

Who I Am: Courtney Powelson. As a Macomb native, I was born and raised a Leatherneck. I am a proud member of the Greek Life community at WIU, where I am an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma.

What I Do: I am a junior, majoring in apparel and textile merchandising and minoring in event planning and management. I am a very involved student leader and belong to multiple student organizations on campus.

Why I Love WIU: WIU has given me an endless amount of opportunities to succeed academically and professionally. I will forever be grateful for WIU!
