WIU Summer Music Institute offers Camp Opportunities Throughout June

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Summer Music Institute will offer music camp opportunities to local junior high and high school students throughout the month of June.

This year's campus include:

• Junior High Week – June 12-18: The cost of the camps, for band and choir students is $575. Every camper will receive scholarship funds.

• Jazz Combo Camp – June 12-17: The camp offers opportunities for small musical groups, a chance to develop and refine improvisation and live coffee house performances. The cost is $575, and every camper will receive scholarship funds.

• Instrumental Studio Camps – June 16-19: The camp offers the opportunity for students to spend intensive time studying their musical instruments with WIU master teachers. The cost is $425, and every camper will receive scholarship funds.

• Senior High Week, "The College Experience" – June 19-25: This camp is for students in band, choir, orchestra, piano and for drum majors. Students can choose individualized tracks that simulate a music major in college. Drum majors will have a chance to conduct live camp bands, and students can perform in multiple ensembles at the same camp. The cost is $575, and every camper will receive scholarship funds.

Camp fees include room and board, all meals and a t-shirt. Discounted rates are also available for commuter students.
