MACOMB, IL - Due to the recent changes made to the College Immunization Law by the state of Illinois, students who were previously compliant with their immunizations may now find themselves to be non-compliant.

Based on Illinois State law, students who are not in compliance will not be allowed to register for the Spring 2017 semester.

In order to ensure all students are able to meet compliance laws in a timely manner and avoid registration hold and fines, Western Illinois University's Beu Health Center will hold a series of immunization clinics students can pre-register for starting Friday, Sept. 9.

The dates and location of the clinics are:

• Tuesday, Sept. 20 - 1-4:30 p.m. – University Union Heritage Room

• Wednesday, Sept. 28 - 1-4:30 p.m. – University Union Grand Ballroom

Students are encouraged to log in to the secure patient portal at beuonline.wiu.edu and click the immunization tab on the left side of the page. They can see all missing required immunizations from this page. From the portal, students will be able to sign up for the clinic that best fits their schedule.

To schedule an appointment for one of these clinics through the portal, students should select the "vaccination clinic" appointment and pick a time. The scheduled appointment time is only a placeholder, and the vaccination clinic will be first come, first served from 1-4:30 p.m. on the above dates. Students may also make an appointment at Beu Health Center prior to and after the clinics if unable to attend either clinic.

If students have the WIU insurance, any missing immunizations received at Beu Health Center are 100 percent covered. Those with other insurance are welcome to receive vaccinations at Beu, but need to check with their insurance to verify coverage first.

The Affordable Care Act requires insurance to cover required immunizations at 100 percent; however, they may require students to go through an in-network provider or pharmacy to receive this coverage.

If students have submitted records to Beu in the last few days, their account may not yet be updated to reflect these changes.

Questions regarding these changes may be directed to the Immunization Office at Beu Health Center (309) 298-3171.
