Rives Inducted Into College of Education Hall of Fame

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University Vice President for the Quad Cities and Planning Joe Rives was recently inducted into the Illinois State University's College of Education Hall of Fame.

Rives, who earned his master's and doctorate degrees from ISU, joined the WIU administrative team in April 2005 as the assistant to the president for planning and budget. He was named vice president of Quad Cities and planning at Western in August 2008.

In his role as vice president of the WIU-Quad Cities campus, Rives serves as the University's point of contact for Quad Cities economic development issues, corporate partnerships, leadership for University-wide planning, is responsible for institutional accreditation reporting for the Higher Learning Commission-North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and works to expand partnerships with businesses, industries and agencies. Rives also works with Illinois, Iowa and Missouri community colleges and regional high schools to institute collaborative educational paths, and has responsibility for the administration and planning for the Quad Cities campus.

Rives serves as chair of Renew Moline's Project Management Team and a member of the Renew Moline Executive Board of Directors. He is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, and serves as a persistence and completion mentor for the Commission. He is also vice president/president-elect of the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA).
