MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University Vice President for the Quad Cities and Planning Joe Rives will become president of the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA) on July 1.

NABCA is a professional organization committed to supporting the mission and goals of higher education professionals who work at a location that is separate from the parent campus. Rives was named vice president of the Quad Cities in August 2008. He joined Western's administration in 2005.

"As the executive director for the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators, I have the privilege of working closely with the president during his or her term in office," said NABCA Executive Director joyce gillie gossom. "For several years, I have watched the association springboard forward as a result of the outstanding vision and leadership of former NABCA presidents. Dr. Rives is the perfect incoming president to take NABCA to the next evolution of strategic growth. Given all that he has accomplished during his tenure at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities, I anticipate that I'll be running to keep up with the implementation of his ideas and vision. I look forward to that."

In his roles as vice president of the WIU-Quad Cities campus, Rives serves as the University's point of contact for Quad Cities economic development issues, corporate partnerships, leadership for University-wide planning and is responsible for institutional accreditation reporting for the Higher Learning Commission-North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Rives also works with Illinois, Iowa and Missouri community colleges and regional high schools to institute collaborative educational paths and has responsibility for the administration and planning for the Quad Cities campus. He was named to a four-year term on the Higher Learning Commission's Action Council (IAC) in 2017.

Rives also serves as chair of Renew Moline's Project Management Team and is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, and he serves as a persistence and completion mentor for the Commission.
