Phi Kappa Phi Senior Research Paper Competition Announced

MACOMB, IL - The honor society of Phi Kappa Phi announces its competition for the best research paper, submitted by a Western Illinois University senior. 
 
Students submitting research papers are eligible for awards of $500, $400, $300 and $200. The first-place winner is the recipient of the Lowell Grabill Undergraduate Research Award. established by the first woman Ph.D. at WIU, Virginia Lowell Grabill.

The competition is open to seniors in any academic discipline. The single-authored papers (one per student) should be the result of independent and original library, laboratory or field research projects. 
 
Papers must be endorsed by a full-time WIU faculty member, who was either mentoring or supervising the work. Paper submissions must also include the required IRB or IACUC approval letter. Papers written from Spring 2017-March 1, 2018 are eligible for the competition. 
 
Papers are expected to be written in a style format specific to their discipline (e.g.  APA sixth edition style for psychology or CSE eighth edition style for biology). Papers should be limited to a maximum length of 30 pages of text, tables and figures (not including references). Entrants should write in a manner that can be understood by people in other disciplines. 
 
All papers must be submitted electronically to PKP President Professor Michael Romano at M-Romano@wiu.edu in Microsoft Word format. Winning students and faculty sponsors will be recognized at the annual PKP Spring Banquet, Sunday, April 8. 
 
The paper's title, student's name, Student ID number, telephone number, campus address and the WIU Faculty sponsor's name, department and email address must be included on the cover sheet, attached to the paper. Entrants are not limited to members of Phi Kappa Phi, but must be seniors at time the paper is submitted.
