MACOMB, IL -- Enjoy Col. Rock III .... and the talents of University and area artists ... all year long with the Western Illinois University Col. Rock III calendar.

The 2018 calendar, designed by University Relations Graphic Designer Shanee Sullivan, features photos of Western's beloved canine and Rocky on Parade statues, taken by WIU Visual Production Center photographers and by Rocky's "person" Joe Roselieb,
along with important WIU dates, such as Founders' Day, Homecoming and Purple & Gold Day.

The calendar is on sale now at the University Bookstore for $5.50 and is also available for purchase online at A portion of the proceeds from calendar sales go toward the Col. Rock III Fund, established by the WIU Foundation in February 2012, which helps meet travel-related, food, health care and "clothing" expenses for the mascot.

A signing event will be held during the Spring 2018 semester.

Rocky, who turned 7 on March 3, has been the center of attention at numerous Western activities since joining the WIU family in May 2010 as a 10-week-old puppy. Roselieb, a WIU alumnus and director of residential facilities at Western, is Rocky's caretaker, trainer and chauffeur.

The English bulldog was donated to Western by Richard and Beth Siess of the Siess Ranch in Seneca, KS. Dr. Karen Blakeley of Macomb's All Pets Veterinary Clinic and the WIU School of Agriculture, along with other University and community organizations and individuals, make sure Col. Rock's care is tended to.

Rocky on Parade is a public art project -- the brainchild of WIU Art Professor Bill Howard -- that debuted at WIU in 2013. The town-gown art collaboration has grown to more than 60 Col. Rock III statues throughout the Macomb and WIU campus communities (including one at the WIU-Quad Cities campus). The 2017 project is the final Rocky on Parade installment.
