WIU Hosts 45th International Bazaar March 3

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University will host the 45th annual International Bazaar from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, March 3 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

The popular event showcases the cultures of international students attending WIU.

Samples of authentic food from numerous countries will be sold for $1-$2.50 each and a list of the offerings can be found at bit.ly/2EG6qAG. Food tickets will be available at the bazaar.

Cultures represented at this year's event include Africa, China, Eritrea, India, Jamaica, Honduras, Mexico, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turtle Island. Other organizations hosting booths at the event include Japanime (the University's Japan/anime club), the Organization of Arab Students, the Peace Corps, the African Student Association, the Office of Study Abroad and Outreach, and Phi Beta Delta.

A Kids Craft Corner, offering a chance to make a stained glass globe and origami, and an international marketplace will be open from 5-8 p.m. Entertainment will be provided throughout the event and a fashion show displaying traditional clothing is scheduled.

Admission to the bazaar is $2 for WIU students; $5 for non-students; $2 for children ages 5-12 and children ages 4 and under are admitted free.

This year's International Bazaar is sponsored by the WIU Center for International Studies, the Council on Student Activity Funds and the International Friendship Club.
