MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's Tanner Hall will once again sponsor the annual St. Baldrick's fundraising event for childhood cancer from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Tanner Circle on University Drive.

The event challenges participants to either shave their heads, volunteer time, or donate to give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any other organization except the U.S. government.

"I have enjoyed being part of St. Baldricks for the last three years," said Mia Calderone a WIU resident assistant and former St. Baldrick's "shavee." "I shave for those who don't have a choice. Everyone should consider donating to this event, whether that be time, money or hair."

Tanner Hall has already raised nearly $6,500 of its $12,000 goal for this year's event. Last year's event raised more than $11,000. The event traditionally includes participants from WIU and from the Macomb community.
