MACOMB, IL – A screening of the documentary "MAJOR!" about the life of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, will be held at 6 p.m. tonight (March 20) in the Western Illinois University Multicultural Center.

Miss Major is a trans elder and activist who blazed the trail for other high-profile transgender women of color. For nearly five decades, she has been winning allies and stretching resources in support of trans rights.

"MAJOR!" documents her life and work and chronicles everything from her role in the Stonewall uprising, to her HIV outreach work in the 1990s, to her support for trans women in prison.

The event will wrap up with a discussion facilitated by WIU Assistant Professor of Educational Studies Chase Catalano.

The screening and discussion are part of the WIU commemoration of Women's History Month.
