Reyes to Perform Graduate Recital March 24

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a ​graduate recital, featuring Brandon Reyes, vibraphone,​ a​t ​1 p.m. ​Saturday, ​March ​24 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.
 
Reyes, a graduate student from Bourbonnais, IL, is from the studio of WIU Professor and Director of Percussion Studies Rick Kurasz, and WIU Associate Professor of Jazz Studies and Percussion Kevin Nichols. He performs this recital in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Masters of Music degree in jazz studies.

Performing with him on the program is a combo made up of fellow music students Byron McChord, piano, a graduate student in music performance from Lexington, KY; Aaron Krings, bass, a graduate student in jazz studies from Wentzville, MO, and Wes Julien, drums, a senior general studies major from Rock Island, IL.

The recital program will include:

• "Pent Up House" - Sonny Rollins

• "Chega De Saudade" - Antonio Carlos Jobim

• "Swole Train" - Brandon Reyes

• "Prelude to a Kiss" - Duke Ellington

• "Anthropology" - Charlie Parker

• "Emily" - Johnny Mandel

• "Morning Dance" - Jay Beckenstein
