MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Theatre Club will present a unique twist on popular Broadway songs at its upcoming "Broadway Backwards" performance at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 15 in the Horrabin Hall Theatre. Guests will enjoy familiar Broadway tunes, but sung by the opposite gender.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $5, but donations are welcome.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Broadway Cares organization, which provides medications, health care, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance to men, women and children with HIV/AIDS.

In addition to a night of entertainment, guests can buy raffle tickets for Broadway-themed items, such as playbills, posters and other Broadway-themed accessories.

"The University Theatre Club wanted to bring something new to the department that was fun and could entertain a diverse audience," said WIU Theatre Club event leader Christopher Holling. "Also, this event offers performers the opportunity to participate in something that is so rare and beneficial to Broadway Cares."

For more information contact Holling at CK-Holling@wiu.edu or the WIU Department of Theatre and Dance at (309) 298-1543.
