Cabal-Jiménez to Present Kline Professorship Lecture April 25

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University will host its fifth annual Kline Professorship Lecture "Central America and Mexico: Language Practices and Linguistic Dynamics in the Colonial Period," presented by WIU Assistant Professor Munia Cabal-Jiménez at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 in the Multicultural Center.

Cabal-Jiménez's research is focused on language dynamics in colonial and independence periods in Central America. In this lecture, Cabal will explore linguistic practices in Central America and Mexico, through research of available historic manuscripts and grammars, and the contribution that such texts can provide to the field of linguistics

This lecture is sponsored by the Vivian Diane and Lenore Houston Kline endowment. The lecture will be given in English.

Refreshments will follow the presentation and the lecture is open free to the public.
