MACOMB, IL -- A retirement reception for Jim DiTulio, director of the Western Illinois University Counseling Center, will be held from 3:30-6 p.m. Friday, May 11 in the Union Lincoln Room. DiTulio will retire May 31 after 29 years of service.

DiTulio began his career at WIU in 1989 as a staff counselor at the University Counseling Center. He was promoted to associate director in 1995 and became the director in 1998. Prior to his association with Western, DiTulio was the director of counseling services at Edgewood College in Madison (WI).

In 2015, he was selected to deliver the fifth annual Jackie Thompson Wellness Lecture, and in 2014, DiTulio was honored by the American College Counseling Association with the "Director of the Year" award.

"Under Jim's direction, the University Counseling Center has achieved re-accreditation, and provides outstanding service to our campus community," said Ron Williams, vice president of student services. "While Jim will be greatly missed at WIU, we wish him well in his retirement."

DiTulio earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology and his master's degree in counseling with a college student personnel emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He is also a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois.
