Woods Named Interim Director of Admissions

MACOMB, IL -- Jason Woods, associate vice president for student services at Western Illinois University, has been named interim director of the WIU Office of Admissions, effective July 1. Admissions Director Seth Miner has accepted a position at New Mexico State University.

Woods, who has served as associate vice president for student services since October 2015, will continue to serve in his present role, in addition to the interim post, according to Vice President for Student Services Ron Williams.

Before joining the WIU Division of Student Services, Woods served as dean of admission and financial planning at Loras College in Dubuque, IA, and as dean of campus student affairs and support services at Loras. He also served as director of campus student affairs and admissions and director of admissions responsibilities at Ashford University in Clinton, IA, and as the associate director of admissions for diversity recruitment, assistant director of admissions, diversity recruitment coordinator and admissions counselor at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.

"Dr. Woods' experience in admissions and student affairs administration will provide outstanding leadership and a seamless transition for Admissions and enrollment management," Williams added. "His expertise will help achieve the University's enrollment goals, while also providing oversight and continuity for the upcoming summer orientation programs."

Woods received his bachelor's degree in public relations from Loras College, his master's degree in post secondary education and student affairs from the University of Northern Iowa and his doctoral degree in higher education and organizational change from Benedictine University.

As associate vice president for student services, Woods oversees the Multicultural Center (Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center, Women's Center and Casa Latina), Disability Resource Center, Career Development Center, Student Publications, Veterans Resource Center and Student Judicial Programs to provide leadership and establish action plans and goals for these areas.
