Buwick Named Counseling Center Director

MACOMB, IL – Amy Buwick, clinical supervisor of the Western Illinois University Counseling Center (UCC) has been named UCC director, effective June 1. Buwick replaces Jim DiTulio, who is retiring after 29 years of service.

Buwick has been the clinical supervisor at WIU since 2017 and a counselor at the center from 2007-2017 and from 1994-2002. As a counselor, Buwick developed the center's aggression management education program, as well as co-founded other support groups and programs and implemented the center's quality assurance program.

She has also served as the administrator of WIU's Alcohol and Other Drugs Resource Center from 2002-2007 and a counselor at McDonough District Hospital Behavioral Health Center in Macomb from 1989-1994.

"Amy's many years of administrative experience within the University Counseling Center, and her clinical experience and background will provide a seamless transition for the oversight and direction of the center," said Vice President for Student Services Ron Williams. "She will continue the quality of excellence and service of our accredited center, and will provide outstanding care and support for our students."

Buwick is a licensed professional counselor and a certified drug and alcohol counselor. She received her master's degree in counselor education from WIU and her bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University.

The University Counseling Center has the primary responsibility for the delivery of counseling services, assessment services, consultation, training, public relations and outreach activities to WIU students.
