MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University will host a reunion Friday-Saturday, June 22-23, for alumni and current students of the Board of Governors, Board of Trustees and General Studies degree programs.

The Bachelor of General Studies program (originally called Board of Governors program, then the Board of Trustees program) was created in 1972 to serve adult students who are unable to attend a traditional college program due to family, work or community obligations. Rather than requiring a specific major, the program allows the student to design her or his program to meet individual educational goals. Students may also be eligible for academic credit for college-level learning that was done in a non-collegiate setting, such as the military or on-the-job training.

The BGS degree is a popular online program at Western.

The schedule for the inaugural event includes:

• 4 p.m. – Photographs, WIU Alumni House front lawn (1009 W. Adams St., Macomb)
