Think B4 U Drink Event Oct. 23 at WIU

MACOMB IL—Western Illinois University is hosting "Think B4 U Drink" from noon – 3 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 23 in the grassy area behind Stipes Hall.

This event is planned to bring awareness about alcohol consumption, drinking and driving and other risky behaviors that occur around Halloween. This event is sponsored by the SAPE grant and is a chance to talk to staff from the Alcohol and Other Drugs Resource Center (AOD), the Office of Public Safety (OPS),Western Emergency Medical Service (WEMS), Women's Center, Beu Health Center, Students T.A.L.K. and Student Judicial programs about the effects of alcohol on WIU students.

OPS will ride with students as they drive golf carts while wearing Fatal Vision goggles and officers will discuss the legal ramifications of drinking and driving. WEMS will be there with some of the equipment used to respond to alcohol related emergencies and the Women's Center will have information related to consent. Beu will have a nurse there to discuss the STI testing procedures here on campus. Student Judicial will be there to inform students of what happens when they get into trouble with alcohol on campus.

At this event students can enter to win prizes or get free Halloween candy.

Donations are provided by Walmart, Aldi, the Sweet Shack, Jimmy Johns, Family Video, the University Bookstore and others.
