MACOMB, IL – A summer internship experience by a Western Illinois University theatre student has transitioned into a Halloween-themed performance experience during the annual "Moon Over Macomb" event.

WIU junior Chris Holling, of East Dundee, IL, will bring his "Page to Stage" performance project to the Macomb fall event from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 20 at the West Central Illinois Arts Center in downtown Macomb.

Through the performance, Holling and nine of his fellow WIU theatre students will act out Halloween-themed books with the help of a narrator.

The books include:

• 10 and 11 a.m. – "Where the Wild Things Are"

• 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. – "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat"

• 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. – "On Halloween Night"

• 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. – "Monster Stories"

Holling said he experienced this theatrical style during his summer internship at the Maples Repertory Theatre in Macon, MO, and wanted to bring the unique style to audiences in Macomb.

"I believe that community is in the heart of anything that you do - especially in theatre, so creating something that would bring the community together was the driving force behind this project," said Holling. "I want individuals who come to see this performance to be transported into the world of these books because, after all, there's more than one way to tell a story."

WIU students will deliver a command performance of "Page to Stage" for students at Lincoln School on Halloween.

The performances are sponsored by Citizens Bank, a division of Morton Community Bank. For more information about WIU Department of Theatre and Dance performances, visit westernpresents.com.
