WIU Faculty, Students and Alumni Compete in Battle of the Brushes 2 April 13 at WCI Arts Center

MACOMB IL – The West Central Illinois Arts Center will present Battle of the Brushes 2 from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the center on the east side of Macomb's downtown square. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Eleven of the 12 artists participating are WIU faculty members, alumni or students. Artists include theatre design graduate student Amina Alexander, of Jamaica; WIU alumna Bethany Barr; WIU alumnus Colby Fayhee; theatre design graduate student Kaitlin Findley; David Garrison, of Burlington, IA; theatre design graduate student Rebecca Holcomb; WIU Assistant Professor Steven House (last year's winner); theatre design graduate student Anthony Karpinski; WIU Department of Theatre and Dance Chair Tammy Killian; Sam Myerson; graduate student Janice Rockwell and Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance Josh Wroblewski.

A recreation, park and tourism administration class, taught by Assistant Professor Jeremy Robinett, is working with the event organizers as a class project.

Each artist will have 30 minutes to create a design in the competitive event. Hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, a silent auction and raffle prizes will be available. In addition, all of the paintings created during the battle will be for sale.

Tickets are $35 each, or two or more for $25 each and can be purchased in advance through Pay Pal at wciarts.org. Tickets can also be reserved through tickets@wciarts.org or by calling (309) 836-2782.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the WCI Arts Center.
