MACOMB, IL – Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Graduate Assistant Noah Postin is pursuing a global opportunity to expand his work at Western Illinois University.

Postin left for China Saturday after being hired to work in Ningbo, China, a city of eight million people. He will work for Sino Sales and Support in a three-month international trade position.

"I'll be working with entrepreneurs and small- to medium-sized companies hoping to manufacture their product, OEM parts or new inventions in China, but lack the personnel and/or expertise in working overseas." he said.

The job opportunity developed after Postin connected with Sino's CEO on LinkedIn while he was researching the company through his SBDC role. While in China, he will be working on the advancement of products, quality control, international marketing and shipping logistics.

Postin will be in China until early August working with Sino Sales & Support. After his return, he will finish his master's degree at WIU in December.

After graduating in three years from Monmouth College with his bachelor's degree in business and economics, Postin came to work at the SBDC. While he consults for the SBDC, he is pursuing his master's degree in community and economic development at Western. He says if things go well this summer he will be able to work with his international clients while simultaneously attending school and consulting for the SBDC.

"I'm really looking forward to this opportunity and what lies in store afterward. I've always been interested in international trade and now is the opportunity to finally get my feet wet," he said.

Postin said he is fortunate enough that the company is paying for his travel, visa, apartment, living expenses, and even an "e-bike" to explore the city.
