Hicks Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Ottawa Township High School senior Jaken Hicks, of Ottawa, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher (or SAT equivalent of 1360), and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, are eligible for the scholarship.

Hicks is planning to major in mechanical engineering.

His interactions with the faculty and staff of the University was a major contributing factor when Hicks was considering WIU.

After graduation, Hicks isn't sure exactly what he'd like to do but said he knows that his time at WIU will help steer him in the right direction.
