MACOMB, IL – Elizabeth Swigart, former banking center manager and regional sales and service development officer at Fortress Bank in Macomb, has been named the Western Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) development director.

Swigart served as the banking center manager and regional sales and service development officer at Fortress (formerly First State Bank of Illinois) from 2015-2019. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the operations and sales performance for the center, and worked with the senior vice president of retail banking to develop new and improve existing business strategies within the company. During her time at Fortress, Swigart's team consistently exceeded sales goals and the Macomb bank was the top performing banking center.

"Liz brings a wealth of professional experience to the position," said Paul Bubb, executive director of development for the WIU Foundation. "In addition to her work experience, she has been an active volunteer in the community and understands the importance of philanthropy in higher education. We welcome her to the development team and to Western Illinois University."

Previously, she was the financial center operations manager for Bank of America in Springfield, MO from 2011-2015, where she was responsible for aligning the company's strategies to increase the customer base, ensuring operational excellence and leading the sales team to achieve success. Swigart has also worked as a cash service representative for Bank of America in Las Vegas (2007-2008), manager of the International Sandwich Shop in Macomb (2004-2006) and as a receptionist for the WIU Small Business Development Center (2002-2004).

She received her bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix, and an associate degree in business from Axia College of the University of Phoenix.

"I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to work for Western Illinois University," Swigart said. "Originally being from Macomb, I grew up wearing purple and gold. Now, as an adult, I could not be more proud to serve this University, the College of Fine Arts and Communication and this great community I have always called home."
