WIU Campus Email Announcements Service Debuts

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – To better serve the Western Illinois University campus community and further streamline mass email messages, Administrative Information Management Systems (AIMS) debuted Aug. 12 a new announcement service, to replace the former TeleStars system. The campus announcement email service will provide the University community with information about University-related programs, policies, activities, events and business.
Employees and students will receive either the "Employee Announcements" or "Student Announcements" email every Monday. According to AIMS Director Stacie Hunt, the single weekly digest email will combine listings of timely relevant information for the campus in a concise format. The new system is designed to limit excessive individual email messages sent through the campus email system. In addition, the new service eliminates a paper request form. While the weekly digests will contain numerous briefs, the campus announcement email service will send single messages to target specific audiences when necessary and to comply with mandated requirements.
Announcement requests may be submitted by employees and students across campus with valid WIU credentials (ecom username), and the announcement must be directly related to WIU and/or events sponsored by WIU. Approval for the sending of all announcements resides with the offices of the university president and vice presidents.
Requests can be submitted online by logging on to the system at https://announcements.wiu.edu. Questions about the service can be sent to Announcements@wiu.edu.
