MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) was revived on campus in 2019, after an almost two-year hiatus.

In the last year, new NSBE board members were elected from departments across campus, and membership in the organization grew by 60 percent.

Members of the chapter participated in the NSBE Fall Regional Conference and scholarships from the association covered the entire cost of attendance.
Society members from WIU represented the chapter in the 2019 Homecoming Parade, and the campus chapter was recognized nationally for its contribution to regional and national membership growth.

The chapter advisor is Biological Sciences Associate Professor Meshack Afitlhile.
