MACOMB, IL – The Council of Academic Advisors' Awards and Recognition Committee at Western Illinois University announced recently that graduate student Danielle Sharpe, of Macomb, has been named Advisor of the Month for February.

Sharpe, who has worked in the University Advising and Academic Support Center (UAASC) for two years as an academic advisor and academic coach, was nominated by her students.

Sharpe is a second-year graduate student in WIU's College Student Personnel program. She recently accepted a position at Boise State University, which she will begin after graduation.

"She shows that she's here to help in more than just an academic way. She's very open minded to the fact that I grew up in a different culture from her and she's very respectful of me," said one of her student nominators. "She's very caring and always makes sure I stay on top of things and I do great."

Sharpe was honored with a certificate and trophy. Award winners are decided by a committee that considers each of the applications.
