Kerley Named February Employee of the Month at WIU

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University Health Center Transporter 1 Teslin Kerley has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for February 2022.

Kerley was hired in her current position in October 2020.

According to Kerley's nominator, she is "professional, courteous and always willing to assist," and has been instrumental in pulling results from third-party sites, such as IL SHIELD, and to format them in a way they can be sorted and sent to numerous campus entities.

"Without her assistance, weekly reports on compliance and vaccinations would not be possible," her nominator said. "As the University began the process of notifying individuals of the campus protocols for this past semester and later on for non-compliance, Beu Health Center was slammed with hundreds of emails with questions and uploads of proof of vaccination information. Teslin took several hours (about two days worth) and assisted in the response of each of them, allowing WIU to get better information into the reporting system."

Kerley's nominator also noted her ability to shift focus from transportation to aiding the University COVID-19 testing site at Campus Recreation.

"She greatly assisted in the collection, organization, and sorting processes of reports," the nominator said. "She understands the importance of getting as many campus individuals into the system and went above and beyond to do so."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
