UPDATE: Suspect in Custody in Off-Campus Shooting

UPDATE - 10 a.m.

MACOMB IL---UPDATE: The investigation at 400 N Charles has developed into a homicide. The lone suspect was apprehended, leaving the community, within an hour after the crime occurred.

Investigators from Galesburg and Monmouth PD's along with McDonough County Sheriff's Office, ISP and WIU OPS continue to assist MPD with scene processing, evidence collection, and evidence preservation.

The Macomb Police Department and OPS wishes to reiterate to the community they are safe and the lone suspect is under arrest.

INITIAL RELEASE
MACOMB, IL -- The Macomb Police Department (MPD) is investigating the report of a possible shooting that occurred off campus in the early morning hours on Wednesday, March. 9.

A caller reported to MPD that a shooting had occurred in the 400 block of North Charles Street involving individuals known to one another. The suspect is in custody. There is no immediate threat to campus. Individuals are encouraged to stay out of the area while the investigation continues.
