July 19, 2022
MACOMB, IL – Purple and gold will be the new orange and black for nearly 30 Macomb High School (MHS) students this fall.
According to WIU Undergraduate Admissions Director Doug Freed, for the first time in several years, WIU's Macomb campus will have the largest percentage of MHS students … 23 percent of Macomb High's 2022 graduating class … enrolling at the institution that has resided in their backyards for nearly 120 years.
"We are so excited to welcome this group of high-achieving scholars to Western this fall," he said. "We appreciate the assistance and support from, and partnerships with, Macomb High School staff, teachers and administrators."
In addition, Western expects to see some of the largest increases in entering students in at least five years from Rushville Industry, Illini West and Bushnell-Prairie City high schools,
"We're happy to have so many area students joining our Leatherneck family this fall," Freed added. "Western has so much to offer, whether your graduating class numbered 20 or 2000. Our academic programs, student support and extracurricular opportunities provide outstanding educational and leadership options."
Eligible prospective students who have not yet made plans for Fall 2022 can still apply and enroll at WIU. For more information or to apply/enroll at WIU, visit wiu.edu/admissions or email admissions@wiu.edu.
