MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host Big Picture at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Rocky statue on the Moline campus. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.

"By itself, the Big Picture could mean very little," said WIU English Professor Everett Hamner. "It's easy to declare alliances with those who break traditional gender models, harder to live them out. But when I look around at my colleagues, some of whom identify as LGBTQ+ themselves, I believe we mean it. We're here to learn and to listen, not just teach and mentor. That's a never-finished process, whether we're rethinking binaries around gender or around race, class, disability, religion or another category. In short, I see the Big Picture as a commitment to affirm everyone's dignity in the face of hatred and to constantly reexamine our own habits."

In case of rain, the picture will be taken in the QC Complex Atrium. The Big Picture is held every year to show support for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff and community members.
