MACOMB, IL - - The application deadline for Western Illinois University students interested in participating in the Minority Internship Program this summer and fall has been extended to Tuesday, April 18.

“We have an outstanding pool of applicants, but due to the acquisition of additional internship funding, we are re-opening the application process,” said Minority Internship Program Campus Chair, Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah.

The Minority Internship Program, funded by a grant underwritten by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, provides a stipend during the internship semester. The internship allows fulltime junior, senior or graduate minority students the opportunity to gain valuable learning experience in a real work environment in their potential career field.

Applying undergraduates must have a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA. The program is designed specifically for African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native American and Alaskan Native students who are U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.
