MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University’s accountancy honorary Beta Alpha Psi, the accountancy department and Western’s All Volunteer Effort (WAVE) are sponsoring again this year the Angel Tree Program.

For the 13th consecutive year, Beta Alpha Psi and the department are sponsoring the Angel Tree Program for foster care children and teenagers in McDonough, Fulton, Warren, Henderson and Hancock counties. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) from each of the counties has provided Beta Alpha Psi with the name, age, gender, size and “wish list” of each child. The goal of Beta Alpha Psi to provide each child with three gifts.

Anyone interested in participating in the Beta Alpha Psi Angel Tree Program should contact Becky Hall, accountancy department, at 309/298-1152 or e-mail RK-Hall2@wiu.edu. Please include: your name, campus phone and location, preference of boy or girl (if any) and age preference (if any). Beta Alpha Psi will try to match donors with their preference(s). Cash donations are also welcome (checks payable to Beta Alpha Psi Angel Tree Program). If donations exceed the amount needed for the foster children, food baskets will be provided to families in need.

Donors are asked to securely attach the angel tag with the childÂ’s name to the outside of the wrapped package and to indicate the type of gift(s), such as toy/clothing, that have been purchased. Gifts must be ready to be picked up or delivered to the accountancy department, Stipes Hall 418, by
4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4.

Volunteer Services, in conjunction with the Macomb Salvation Army, will sponsor its Angel Tree program in the Union Concourse Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 15 to collect holiday gifts for area children. Participants choose an angel from the tree, sign the log book at the Union Information desk (in front of the Bookstore) and buy the gift for the child listed. The unwrapped gifts should be returned to the Office of Student Activities (first floor of the University Union) by noon Dec. 15. Based on the outstanding support of the project in the last few years, Volunteer Services will sponsor approximately 100 angels this holiday season.

Western Illinois University has participated in the Angel Tree Project for more than 14 years. For more information contact Volunteer Services at 309/298-3232.
