MACOMB, IL -- There's no other place for Western Illinois University alumni and friends to be during Western's 2007 Homecoming celebration than the "The Right Place."

This year's Homecoming theme is "Rockin the Ages." WIU alumni and friends are invited to a variety of activities Friday-Saturday, Sept. 28-29. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, alumni and friends are invited to "The Right Place," a giant purple and gold tent directly west of Hanson Field. "The Right Place" debuted last year as a venue to meet friends and faculty from Western's Board of Trustees Bachelor of Arts Degree Program; the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Technology, Education and Human Services and Fine Arts and Communication; the Centennial Honors College; the Center for International Studies; University Libraries; the WIU Foundation; as well as staff and friends from student services, alumni programs and athletics.

Burgers, hot dogs, chips, cupcakes and beverages will be available for $5 per person at "The Right Place," along with a cash bar.

"We had a phenomenal response when we all got together in one place during Homecoming 2006. Everyone supported the change and we're looking forward to another outstanding Homecoming at 'The Right Place' this year," Alumni Director Amy Spelman said. "We welcome all WIU alumni and friends to stop by and visit with faculty and staff from their college days, and to enjoy the pre-game social."

Other alumni-related Homecoming 2007 activities include the 5-10-25-40-50 Year Reunion Weekend, Friday, Sept. 28-Saturday, Sept. 29. Graduates from the classes of 1957, 1967, 1982, 1997 and 2002 are invited to participate in a variety of events.

The All-Alumni Social will be held from 5-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at the Alumni House. On Saturday, Sept. 29 grab your tennies and get some exercise at the Old Stompin' Ground Runaround 5K run/1.5 mile walk, which begins at 8 a.m. [registration 7-7:45 a.m.] at the Alumni House.

A continental breakfast will be served at the Alumni House beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, prior to the parade, which begins on the Macomb Downtown Square at 9:30 a.m. and travels by the Alumni House. Leathernecks Football versus North Dakota State will kick-off at Hanson Field beginning at 1:05 p.m.
