MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's College of Arts and Sciences will host its inaugural scholarship fund-raising dinner at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 in the University Union Lamoine Room.

To date, more that $5,000 has been raised for scholarships across the college.

"This more than doubles our original fund raising goal for the first year of this event," said Inessa Levi, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. "We are so pleased to have had the overwhelming response to our request to support this event. We already have well over 100 people who have made reservations for the event. There are still a few seats left and they are selling quickly."

The dinner underscores the importance for Western Illinois University to offer scholarship funds to students, Levi added. In addition to scholarships in various departments throughout the college and special endowed scholarships, the College of Arts and Sciences offers special scholarships that support academically gifted students, undergraduate research and creative activity, first-generation college students, nontraditional students, student internships and study abroad.
