MACOMB, IL - - Kathy Orban, Western Illinois University associate athletic director for compliance and senior women's administrator, recently was named WIU's Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) employee of the year.

The special recognition is presented annually to a COAP member who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments at Western, recognizing a person's dedication to excellence and the positive impact they have on students, staff and others with whom they interact.

"Kathy is the type of person who gets things done. She has been able to find the appropriate balance to meet the demands and expectations of her job, and then find time to do more for our student-athletes, for our department and for Western Illinois University," said Tim Van Alstine, director of intercollegiate athletics. "She is a true professional and understands the role of athletics as it fits within the University's overall educational mission."

Orban was noted for her tireless efforts to promote student-athlete welfare; her patience and diligence in working with student-athletes and coaches; her integrity; and her knowledge and application rules and regulations to keep Western compliant with the NCAA.

COAP represents 250 administrators at WIU.
