Cash Flow Update (4/28/11)

Dear Campus Community:
As we near the end of the semester, I would like to thank the campus community for its support during the 2010-2011 semester, particularly as we continue to face fiscal challenges. Western is waiting on FY'11 reimbursements from the State of Illinois of approximately $35 million. The University has received approximately $32 million from the state for Fiscal Year 2011.
Because of measures taken in recent years to conserve resources, the University will meet its payroll through the end of the current fiscal year. As we approach a new fiscal year, we will continue to monitor spending, including reviewing all open positions, travel requests and other purchases. While the Fiscal Year 2012 budget has yet to be finalized, we are hopeful that funding levels for higher education will not be further reduced.
