Deadline Nears for 2012-2013 Civil Service Employees’ Dependent Scholarship at Western Illinois University

MACOMB, IL – The deadline for 2012-2013 Western Illinois University Civil Service Employees' Dependent Scholarship applications has been set for 3 p.m. Friday, April 13.
The requirements for being considered for the $1,000 scholarship include a completed application, two letters of recommendation (one personal and one from a teacher/guidance counselor/academic personnel) and one autobiography/essay which emphasizes accomplishments in and out of the classroom, including work experience, community services, academic awards, athletic achievements and participation in youth organizations.
A review of all applications will be conducted before candidates are contacted for interviews with the Scholarship Selection Committee.
A maximum of nine one-time scholarships will be awarded to students who are dependents of WIU Civil Service employees. Students must be full-time undergraduate students or full-time undergraduate dependents of retirees and have been accepted to, or enrolled at, WIU.
Applications are available at wiu.edu/vpas/ human_resources/documents/ScholarshipApp.pdf and can be turned at to Sherman Hall 105 on the WIU-Macomb campus.
