MOLINE, IL -- The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities School of Engineering will host an open house for interested students, their families and business professionals from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 20 at the WIU-QC Riverfront Campus, room 111.

"The open house is an excellent opportunity for current students and business professionals to meet and network while learning about the engineering program," said Bill Pratt, director of the School of Engineering. "There will be a variety of campus and community representatives available to discuss resources, career development, academic assistance, dual enrollment with community colleges and more."

According to Pratt, Western engineers can chose from six "tracks" in mechanical, civil, computer-electrical, manufacturing-quality and materials engineering and engineering management.

"Students are encouraged to take electives in more than one track, because this makes graduates more valuable to potential employers and allows greater flexibility in career paths," he explained. "One benefit of the WIU-QC engineering program is that a student can wait to commit to a particular 'track' until the beginning of his or her senior year."
