MACOMB, IL – Thirty-seven Western Illinois University faculty have been granted promotions, effective Fall 2012.

Promotion recommendations were initiated at the departmental level and reviewed by the college deans and Provost Ken Hawkinson prior to final approval by President Jack Thomas.

Promoted from associate professor to professor:

College of Arts and Sciences -- Alphonso Simmons, African American studies; Matt Bonnan and Richard Musser, biological sciences; David Banash, Bradley Dilger, Shazia Rahman and Pearlie Strothers-Adams, English and journalism; Lee Brice, Greg Hall, Walter Kretchik and Edward Woell, history; and Tawnya Adkins Covert and David Rohall, sociology and anthropology.

College of Business and Technology -- Hongbok Lee, accounting and finance; Craig Conrad, management and marketing; and James McQuillan, School of Computer Sciences.

College of Education and Human Services -- Leslie O'Ryan, counselor education; Laura McArthur, dietetics, fashion merchandising and hospitality; Dean Halverson and Sandra Watkins, educational leadership; and Leaunda Hemphill, instructional design and technology.

College of Fine Arts and Communication -- Nathan Miczo, communication; and Michael Fansler and James Romig, School of Music.

Promoted from assistant professor to associate professor:

College of Arts and Sciences -- Susan Romano, biological sciences; Gilles Kouassi, chemistry; Tim Roberts, history; Betsy Perabo and Brian Powell, philosophy and religious studies; Erin Taylor, political science; and Dana Lindemann, psychology.

College of Business and Technology -- Samit Chakravorti, management and marketing.

College of Education and Human Services -- Debra Allwardt, social work; Todd Lough, law enforcement and justice administration; and Minsun Doh and Paul Schlag, recreation, parks and tourism administration.

University Libraries -- Linda Zellmer.
