MACOMB, IL -- The Macomb Park District's Ball Fore facility recently donated gently-used golf clubs and practice balls to Camp Courageous, located in Monticello, IA, to support the creation of an accessible mini golf course by a Western Illinois University intern.

The Macomb Park District heard of the need for equipment to assist WIU RPTA intern Jocelyn Blanco, of Chicago, in her final project of designing and developing an accessible miniature golf course on the camp campus from her RPTA Internship Supervisor, WIU Instructor Julie Eggleston.

Eggleston saw a Facebook post Blanco made regarding the need for equipment and funds to assist with her final internship project. Eggleston contacted Blanco to discuss the needs and was able to assist in the donation of the clubs and balls to support the course development with the help of Neil Armstrong, Ball Fore's site supervisor. Camp Courageous also has another RPTA tie – John Geyer, its respite care coordinator, is also an RPTA alumnus, after completing his master's degree in 2008.

"We are excited to be able to support the inclusion and accessibility of the Camp Courageous project, as well as support the success of the student and former MCSRA volunteer," said Armstrong.

The Macomb Park District and the RPTA department have a strong, collaborative relationship, always providing field work experience for students, as well as opportunities like Blanco's.
