Outdoor Skills Seminar

MACOMB, IL -- What would you do if you got lost in the woods or stranded on a mountain side? Do you know the "essentials" to pack before embarking on a hiking expedition? Find out these answers and more at the annual Outdoor Skills Seminar Saturday, March 23.

The seminar will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus, located south of Macomb. The event is sponsored by the Horn Environmental Learning Project (HELP).

Some of the sessions include outdoor baking, trip planning, gear selection, primitive camping skills, the climbing tower and historical interpretations of the voyageur lifestyle.

Pre-registration is $5 (Currens Hall 400); registration on the day of the event, is $8. Participants will need to dress for the outdoors and bring their own lunch.
