MACOMB, IL — Richard Moreno, director of student publications at Western Illinois University and a faculty member in Western's English and journalism department, has combined, yet again, his love of writing, history, weird facts and legends to produce another new book about Illinois.

"Myths and Mysteries of Illinois: True Stories of the Unsolved and Unexplained" is available for pre-order online and will be available on bookstore shelves Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The 208-page book is Moreno's third Illinois-related work for Globe Pequot Publishing (his previous books include "Illinois Curiosities" and "It Happened in Illinois"). He will be signing copies of "Myths and Mysteries of Illinois" from 10:30 a.m.-noon and again from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at New Copperfield's Book Service in Macomb (120 North Side Square).

In addition to his three books about Illinois, Moreno has authored 10 books covering the history and curiosities of Nevada. In 2007, he received the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame Silver Pen Award. Before coming to WIU, Moreno was publisher of Nevada Magazine.
